Crisis seems to bring many unwanted things to our life. A short list might include: depression, anxiety, loneliness, marital issues, fear, problems with our health, financial difficulty, loss of relationships, etc. We can let these trials drive us to dysfunction or we can get a heavenly perspective. “Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen”(Hebrews 11:1 King James Version).
Finding faith to heal when we are struggling with discouragement leads us straight back to God’s word, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit”(Psalm 34:18 New International Version). When fear grips our life we can hang on to God’s promises, “The LORD is my light and salvation; of whom shall I fear. The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid”(Psalm 27:1 King James Version). Whatever our need, we can find a promise from God’s word, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze”(Isaiah 43:2 New International Version).
